H.O.P.E. (Hooked on Positive Education)
Kindergarten through 4th grade students at Kernville Elementary and Wallace Elementary
Hands-on nutrition education in the garden and cooking lessons. Students learn from a variety of nutrition curriculum that includes sampling fruits and veggies from the Harvest of the Month, Dairy Council of California, and Power Play programs. Students are also involved in a variety of physical activities to keep them up and moving more.
Serving 5th thru 8th grade students at Wallace Middle School
All grades in the after school programs are involved in nutrition education in the classroom/kitchen and also in the school gardens. Students prepare, sow, and harvest herbs and veggies for tasty food sampling and learn about the importance of healthy eating, drinking lots of water (and less sugary drinks), and enjoying daily physical activity.
